Teaching and learning quality – our learning environment and teaching style foster excellence at all levels. Swinburne has been ranked the best university in Melbourne for Teaching Quality by The Good Universities Guide in both 2007 and 2008
Range of course options – Swinburne offers courses in both the higher education and vocational sectors, providing distinct advantages for our international students. Qualifications ranging from Certificates, Bachelor and Master degrees, to PhDs and Professional Doctorates allow students to choose pathways to suit their individual interests and career aspirations.
Excellent campus locations – Swinburne’s Hawthorn and Prahran campuses are located in two prestigious inner-city suburbs, around seven kilometres from Melbourne’s CBD. Both offer a shopping district next to the campuses with shops, supermarkets and an array of multicultural cuisine. A large network of public transport covers these campuses, offering a range of train, tram and bus services.
The Lilydale campus offers a beautiful natural setting and is located at the tip of the beautiful Yarra Valley, Melbourne’s premier wine-making region. Croydon and Wantirna are located in Melbourne’s outer Eastern suburbs and provide a more unique experience for international students who wish to experience a smaller, cohesive campus. These campuses are located within Melbourne’s train and bus network.
Research excellence - Research underpins and invigorates all Swinburne activities, leading substance to our programs and involving students with the broader community. Swinburne has a remarkable research record. Recent examples of our research accomplishments include: § In 2006, Swinburne was awarded a total of A$3.71 million in Australian Research Council (ARC) funding. This included A$2.54M in the prestigious Discovery Grants. § Swinburne achieved the fourth-highest growth in research income, per member of staff, of Australian universities.
