Australia is a large island continent in the southern hemisphere with a diverse range of climate zones. The weather in Australia varies from tropical climates in the north to very dry and hot climates in the centre. It is important to note that the seasons are the opposite from those in the northern hemisphere. The summer in Australia starts in December, which makes for a not so traditional “white” Christmas! So before you arrive to Australia we recommend you to check the weather conditions in your city or state of choice. Australia enjoys 4 seasons per year: Summer: December to February Autumn: March to May Winter: June to August Spring: September to November The temperature in Australia changes with the seasons, but in general it ranges between highs of 49 degrees Celsius in the centre to lows of sub-zero temperatures in the south of the country. The lowest temperatures reached in Australia, however, are not comparable to the extreme lows experienced in other continents.
