Internet Phone Services (VoIP)

Using VoIP is becoming very popular among international students. Nowadays, many instant message options like Yahoo and MSN provide an option to have voice communication with your friends for free.

But just in case your family and friends are not into online chatting you can use a VoIP provider. The most common option is SKYPE where you can call any phone number in the world from your computer at a very low cost or for free if the person you are calling is also using SKYPE.

With SKYPE or any other VoIP provider, you can ring your family and friends from your computer and talk for hours at a very cheap rate. Skype also offers you the possibility to send SMS (text messages), have your own voice mail and even gives you the opportunity to get a local number either in your home country or Australia to receive phone calls.

VoIP is a technology that is under development so sometimes you can experience a few difficulties and delays but it is definitely worth a try. In this case, we recommend you to use a prepaid service and avoid any fix plans.

It is important to consider that you will need a good internet connection and preferably with unlimited download capacity to get the most out of using VoIP.
