For each unit or subject you will most likely need to purchase a textbook. Your institution will give you a list of the necessary textbooks you will need to get for your studies either before you start via email or on their website or during your first week of study. You can either purchase new textbooks or you may decide to look for second hand textbooks.
New textbooksYou can purchase new textbooks from all major bookshops however, most students choose to buy them from the Co-op Bookshop. The University Co-operative Bookshop (Co-op Bookshop) is probably the best place to find your textbooks as they stock nearly every textbook used by Australian institutions and if they don´t have it they can usually order a copy for you. They are the largest provider of educational, professional and lifelong learning resources in Australia. Co-op bookshops can be found on or near nearly all major university campuses and in most major cities and towns in Australia. They also have a fantastic online bookshop. We recommend that you become a life member of the Co-op and enjoy the many discounts and benefits they offer you. It only costs around $20 to join the Co-op and you can do this in one of their stores or online. Second hand textbooksPurchasing second-hand textbooks can save you a lot of money. You can sometimes find signs or posters around your institution which advertise second-hand textbooks which are being sold by past students. You may also find some second-hand textbooks in the cafe on your campus or through some bookshops. There are also some really great websites for buyers and sellers of second hand textbooks. Check these out!
