Country and Area codesAustralia’s country code is +61 and each state in Australia has different area codes as follows:
Therefore, if you lived in NSW and your friends and family wanted to call they would ring +612 and then your personal number (if they are ringing your mobile number, they would leave the 0 off at the start of your mobile number eg. +612 4………….)

Telephone directoriesAustralia has two main telephone directories: White pages – Use this directory if you are looking for a residential number or address or if you know the exact business name. Yellow pages – Use this directory if you are looking for a business
Some states and cities have other smaller directories which are usually available for free at Australian Post Offices.
