QUT Peace scholar of the year fights for a better world

Peace Scholar of the Year Anna Lee Mraz Bartra, a sociology student from Mexico who has been studying at Queensland University of Technology (QUT) for the past year, wants to change the world.

Studying at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), Anna Lee received a Peace Scholarship in semester two last year, and has been studying Ethical Theory and Global Studies at QUT. Believing education is the first step towards making the world a better place, Anna Lee has been a tireless volunteer in the community, including involvement with Peace Education Journal, helping to arrange the ‘International Day of Peace Alliance’, as well as travelling to Cambodia to teach English to teenage children. At the ceremony she acknowledged QUT’s assistance to realise her ambition to study in Australia and said the University’s practical focus will help significantly towards her goal of making make the world a better place.
