Since the University is within the national capital, research is conducted across a broad spectrum of areas, and engages closely with business and government agencies both nationally and internationally. There are two well-established University Research Centres: Institute of Applied Ecology and National Centre for Social and Economic Modelling (NATSEM).
On campus, the University is equipped with accommodation, library, resource centre, computer labs, research centres, health and counseling, gymnasium, child care, spiritual meeting place, cafes, Co-Op bookshop, and convenience store. There is also a number of clubs and societies catering to a wide range of interests, including competitive teams such as rugby, soccer, and basketball.
The University of Canberra is a member of the Elite Athlete Friendly University (EAFU) network. As such, the University has signed an agreement with the Australian Sports Commission and the Australian Capital Territory Academy of Sport to support the integration of Australian elite athletes' sporting and academic aspirations.
